Overview

Hidden in the pristine beauty of Gorkha, the Tsum Valley trek lies in the northern part of the Manaslu region of Nepal. Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest mountain at 8,163 meters, towers nearby, offering trekkers breathtaking views throughout the journey. The valley is one of Nepal’s most remote and untouched regions, yet it lies just a few hundred kilometers from Kathmandu, making it accessible for adventurous travelers seeking a unique experience.

Tsum Valley remains one of Nepal’s most underrated trekking destinations. The name “Tsum” comes from the Tibetan word Tsombo, meaning “vivid,” reflecting the valley’s rich culture, unique lifestyle, and mysterious folklore. From stories of the Yeti to insights into the traditional polyandry system (now illegal), the valley is full of cultural and mythical wonders waiting to be discovered.

The trek offers panoramic views of spectacular peaks including Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Himalchuli, along with dozens of other towering mountains. Along the route, you will encounter ancient monasteries, gompas, Mani walls, prayer wheels, and fluttering prayer flags, immersing yourself in the rich Tibetan Buddhist culture that brings peace and serenity to all visitors.

Recently upgraded to a teahouse trekking trail, the Tsum Valley trek now allows adventurers to explore its hidden beauty while enjoying the comfort and warmth of newly built teahouses along the route. This makes it a perfect combination of adventure, culture, and comfort in one unforgettable journey.
