Overview
The name “Pikey” is taken from a local Sherpa deity believed to guard and bless the region. For generations, Pikey Peak has been a sacred hill for the Sherpa community, often climbed during festivals and special religious events.
Local stories say that Sir Edmund Hillary once described Pikey Peak as his favorite viewpoint of Mount Everest.
The area is deeply rooted in Buddhist culture, where trekkers can see monasteries, prayer flags, mani walls, and traditional Sherpa villages that have existed for centuries.
