Gokyo Lakes Trek

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the gateway to Nepal. After completing airport formalities, transfer to your hotel and settle in. Spend the day resting or exploring the vibrant streets of Kathmandu, experiencing its rich culture, temples, and local cuisine in preparation for the trek ahead.

Take an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, enjoying spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival, meet your trekking team and begin your trek along the Dudh Koshi River. Pass through small villages, suspension bridges, and lush forests before reaching Phakding. Overnight stay in a teahouse, allowing time to rest and acclimatize for the days ahead.

Begin your trek from Phakding, following the trail along the Dudh Koshi River. Cross several charming suspension bridges and pass through small villages and rhododendron forests. As you approach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, the trail becomes steeper, leading up to the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. Spend the evening exploring its lively markets, cafes, and local culture, while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Spend the day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize to the higher altitude. Take short hikes to nearby viewpoints, such as the Everest View Hotel, for spectacular vistas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Explore the vibrant Sherpa market, interact with locals, and learn about their culture and traditions. This rest and acclimatization day prepares you for the more challenging trekking days

After breakfast, continue your trek through the scenic trails of the Khumbu region. The path gradually ascends, passing traditional Sherpa villages, prayer wheels, and terraced fields, offering glimpses of local life. Enjoy breathtaking views of Thamserku, Kwangde, and other Himalayan peaks along the way. Arrive at Dole, a quiet village at 4,030 m, where you’ll rest for the night and continue acclimatizing to the higher altitude. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Today, the trek steadily ascends through rugged trails surrounded by stunning Himalayan scenery. Pass traditional stone villages, prayer flags, and mani walls as you make your way toward Machhermo. Enjoy panoramic views of peaks like Cho La, Tawache, and Kantega along the route. Arrive in Machhermo at 4,470 m, a small high-altitude village, and spend the evening resting and acclimatising. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Continue your trek through the high-altitude landscapes of the Khumbu region, passing glaciers, moraines, and traditional Sherpa villages. The trail gradually climbs, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Arrive at Gokyo, a serene village beside the stunning turquoise Gokyo Lakes at 4,790 m. Take time to explore the village and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, with breathtaking Himalayan panoramas all around. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Begin the day with an early morning hike to Gokyo Ri, one of the best vantage points in the region at 5,357 m. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking 360° views of the Khumbu Himalayas, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, as well as the stunning Gokyo Lakes below. After soaking in the panoramic scenery, descend back to Gokyo village for rest and acclimatisation. Spend the evening relaxing in the peaceful lakeside surroundings. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Leave Gokyo and trek eastward through the rugged high-altitude terrain of the Khumbu region. The trail passes glacial moraines, small streams, and isolated settlements, offering stunning views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, and the Ngozumpa Glacier. Arrive at the remote village of Thagnak at 4,700 m, a quiet stopover that allows for rest and acclimatization. Enjoy the peaceful Himalayan surroundings before settling in for the night at a teahouse.

Today is one of the most challenging and rewarding days of the trek. Begin early, trekking from Thagnak toward the Cho La Pass at 5,420 m. Cross rugged glaciers and steep trails, witnessing spectacular views of Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam along the way. After conquering the pass, descend to the high-altitude settlement of Dzongla at 4,830 m. Rest and recover from the day’s demanding journey while soaking in the breathtaking Himalayan scenery. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

After breakfast, continue your trek from Dzongla through high-altitude landscapes dotted with prayer flags and rugged trails. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The trail gradually descends and then ascends toward Lobuche at 4,910 m, a small settlement near the base of the Khumbu Glacier. Take time to rest and acclimatize, preparing for the final push toward Everest Base Camp. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Start early from Lobuche and trek along the Khumbu Glacier toward the legendary Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m. Take in awe-inspiring views of Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest as you approach the iconic site, capturing unforgettable photos and experiencing the energy of the world’s highest peak. After exploring Base Camp, descend to Gorak Shep at 5,170 m for the night, the last stop before the final summit viewpoints. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Wake up early for a pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint for Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori. Witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas and capture panoramic photos of the surrounding peaks. After soaking in the stunning vistas, descend via Gorak Shep and continue down to Pheriche at 4,200 m. Spend the evening resting in this peaceful village, allowing your body to recover from the high-altitude trek. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

Begin the descent from Pheriche back toward Namche Bazaar, retracing the scenic trails along the Dudh Koshi Valley. Enjoy views of terraced fields, traditional Sherpa villages, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks as you make your way down. Continue the trek to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Upon arrival, celebrate completing the trek and rest in a teahouse, enjoying your final night in the high Himalayas. Overnight stay in Lukla.
