Safety, Health & Travel Guidelines — Everest Horizon Trek.

Your safety, health, and well-being are our top priorities. Nepal is a welcoming and rewarding destination, and following these guidelines will help ensure your journey is safe, smooth, and enjoyable.

1. General Safety

Nepal is generally safe for travellers, with serious crime being rare. As in any destination, remain aware of your surroundings, particularly in busy areas such as Thamel and major city centres. Keep valuables secure and carry a photocopy of your passport while travelling.

2. Political & Public Situations

Strikes or demonstrations may occasionally occur. Avoid large gatherings or protests, and stay informed via local news updates. Our team will assist in adjusting your itinerary if necessary to ensure your safety.

3. Trekking & Adventure Safety

All foreign trekkers are required by government regulations to travel with a licensed guide through a registered trekking company. Solo trekking without a guide is not permitted. For your safety, avoid unregistered operators, especially for high-altitude treks or remote regions.

4. Weather & Road Safety

The weather in the Himalayas can change rapidly. Always carry warm and waterproof clothing regardless of the season. Avoid travelling at night when possible, and use reliable transport services, especially during the monsoon season when road conditions may be affected.

5. Altitude & Health Precautions

Proper acclimatisation is essential for high-altitude trekking. Follow your guide’s instructions, maintain a steady pace, and stay well-hydrated. Comprehensive travel insurance covering high-altitude medical care and emergency evacuation is mandatory for all trekkers.

6. Food, Water & Common Health Risks

Drink only bottled or purified water and eat freshly prepared meals. Take basic precautions to prevent common health issues. Protect yourself from mosquito bites, be aware of air pollution in cities, and avoid contact with stray animals to reduce the risk of rabies.

7. Local Laws, Customs & Responsible Travel

Respect local traditions, religious sites, and cultural practices. Dress modestly, especially in rural areas and temples. LGBTQIA+ travellers are welcome but should exercise discretion. Avoid illegal drugs and restricted photography. We encourage all travellers to practice responsible and sustainable tourism, supporting local communities and preserving Nepal’s natural and cultural heritage.
